Phonemic Awareness

Phonemic Awareness is the ability to hear, identify, and play with individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken words. For example, knowing that the word "cat" is made up of the sounds /c/, /a/, and /t/. It’s a key skill for learning to read and spell. In short, it’s about tuning your ears to the sounds in words.
